"The Past Has Been Recorded on the Chain" Vol.23|October 3, 2023: He Cut Off His Curly Hair and Took the Defendant's Seat
$BTC $ETH $SOL On October 3, 2023, in the Federal Court in Manhattan, New York, Sam Bankman-Fried stood up from his seat and turned to a group of strangers who might decide his fate. He wore a dark suit, and his once-signature messy curls had been cut short. Judge Lewis Kaplan introduced the 31-year-old defendant, who founded a cryptocurrency exchange called FTX and now faces seven counts of fraud and conspiracy. Eleven months ago, he was the most watched young billionaire in the crypto industry; on this day, he sat in the defendant's chair. The date needs to be clearly distinguished. Jury selection began on October 3, 2023, marking the official start of the criminal trial; opening statements from the prosecution and defense took place on October 4. New York was observing daylight saving time at the time, 12 hours behind Taiwan, so the daytime court session still corresponded to October 3 in Taiwan, with no cross-day issue. Reuters' case timeline and the AP on-site report both recorded the trial start date as October 3. Most of the first day was spent selecting jurors. The judge asked each candidate whether they had heard of FTX, owned cryptocurrency, had investment losses, and whether they could set aside preconceived notions. Some said they had lost money in crypto investments; one man said his twin brother suffered severe losses, and his life was almost ruined because of it. The court needed to find 12 official jurors and 6 alternates to decide over the coming weeks one thing: the collapse of FTX was ultimately caused by

"The Compound Interest of Life Vol.29|Steve Jobs: It Was Only After Being Ousted from Apple That He Learned How to Come Back"
$xAAPL $AAPL In 1985, thirty-year-old Steve Jobs left Apple. Nine years earlier, he, along with Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne, signed partnership documents to turn a computer motherboard into a company; nine years later, the board supported CEO John Sculley, whom Jobs had personally recruited, and Jobs lost actual control of the Macintosh division. He later described this experience very frankly in a Stanford speech: he was fired from the company he had founded. That was one of Silicon Valley's most humiliating failures. The company was still there, the name was still there, the products were still there, but the founder was left outside. Jobs once didn’t know what to do next and sold almost all of his Apple stock. The following eleven years did not immediately prove he was right. The NeXT computer was expensive and had limited sales, Pixar burned money for a long time, and Jobs’ management style continued to hurt people. He spent large amounts of capital and came close to success several times. At the end of 1996, the struggling Apple decided to acquire NeXT. Regulatory filings showed the total transaction price was about $424 million. The software technology Apple bought also sent Jobs back to the company he had been kicked out of. This time, he brought back an operating system, a stake in an animation company, over a decade of failure experience, and a clearer method of making choices. Before fame: an adopted child growing up between a garage and fonts Steve Paul Jobs was born in 1955

Gm! In the wilderness, every direction is forward 1️⃣【Crypto】BTC rallies then pulls back After the US employment data release, BTC briefly rose to about $87,000, then pulled back to around $84,654 according to snapshot data. Eased rate hike concerns brought a short-lived rally, but chasing buyers failed to hold the gains. 2️⃣【Crypto Hotspot】Crypto bank licenses challenged The Independent Community Bankers of America sued the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, challenging rules related to crypto trust bank licenses and demanding revocation of approvals. No court ruling yet, adding uncertainty to crypto custody entering the banking system. 3️⃣【US Stocks】Major indexes close higher Dow up 0.49%, S&P 500 up 0.73%, Nasdaq leads with 1.19% gain. Weak employment data reduced near-term rate hike bets, tech stocks drove the rebound, but Dow and S&P still ended the week lower. 4️⃣【Macro】US nonfarm payrolls increase by only 29,000 September nonfarm payrolls rose less than the expected 90,000, unemployment rate rose to 4.2%, July and August employment numbers were revised down by 60,000 combined. Slowing hiring and wage growth ease rate hike pressure; future policy direction remains to be seen. $BTC $XQQQ $XSPY

"The Past Has Been On-Chain" Vol.22|October 2, 2023: UBS Moves a Fund onto Ethereum
$ETH is a traditional money market fund, usually hidden between subscription forms, custodian accounts, valuation systems, and bank transfers. Investors submit instructions, fund managers verify identities, registrars update shares, and custodians reconcile funds. Each company has its own ledger, and the same transaction may be recorded multiple times. On October 2, 2023, UBS Asset Management began trying a different approach: writing fund shares into Ethereum smart contracts. On that day, UBS announced the launch of the first tokenized variable capital company fund pilot. It is a money market fund and also a real asset tokenization experiment under the Monetary Authority of Singapore's Project Guardian framework. The pilot uses UBS's self-built Tokenize platform, with smart contracts deployed on the Ethereum public blockchain, and the first batch of transactions has been completed. There is no cross-time zone dispute about the date. UBS's official page records it as October 2, 2023; Singapore and Taiwan are both in UTC+8; the page shows Central European Summer Time 03:00, which converts to 9 a.m. Taiwan time on the same day. This pilot first tests fund subscriptions and redemptions. When investors subscribe, the system can generate tokens representing fund shares according to set conditions; after redemption is completed, the corresponding tokens are canceled, and share records are updated accordingly. The smart contract links fund movements, share changes, and transaction records, reducing repeated file transfers and manual reconciliations between different systems. These tokens also have not turned the money market fund into one that can be freely

Gm! As long as I eat well, no one can look down on me 1️⃣【Crypto】Citibank raises BTC target price Citibank has raised the 12-month BTC target price from $82,000 to $113,000, citing increased crypto market activity and a recovery in ETF inflows. BTC snapshot price is about $84,756, institutional expectations are turning stronger, but actual buying support is still needed. 2️⃣【On-chain Meme】Nailoong drives on-chain heat The Nailoong meme coin on BNB Chain, named after the milk dragon, has a snapshot market cap of about $2.1 million and a 24-hour trading volume of about $7.3 million. The new coin has attracted intense trading in a short time, reigniting meme sentiment on the BSC chain. 3️⃣【US Stocks】Three major indexes turn positive at the close Dow up 0.04%, S&P 500 up 0.20%, Nasdaq up 0.04%. The decline in US Treasury yields eased valuation pressure, but the rebound was limited, and funds remain cautious. 4️⃣【Macro】US manufacturing cost pressures rise The ISM manufacturing PMI for September was 54.5, maintaining expansion; the price index rose from 71.1 to 77.9. Demand remains supported, but rising raw material costs may squeeze corporate profits, making inflation harder to ease. $BTC $ETH $SOL

"The Past Has Been On-Chain" Vol.21|October 1, 2021: Volcano Mines Bitcoin for a Country for the First Time
$BTC On October 1, 2021, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele posted a screenshot of a mining account on social media. The numbers on the screen were small: 0.00483976 BTC marked as "pending payment," and another 0.00599179 BTC as "expected to be mined," totaling 0.01083155 BTC, worth just over 500 USD at the time. For a country, this income is not even enough to cover many government meeting expenses. However, its significance far exceeds the amount itself. Bukele later wrote that the equipment was still being tested and installed, but this was the first batch of Bitcoin officially mined by the "volcano node." This made El Salvador the first government to publicly use national geothermal facilities for Bitcoin mining. x.com The date is undisputed. Bukele's original post, local media, and international reports all record it as October 1, 2021; The Block published a report at 04:27 Eastern Time on the same day, corresponding to 4:27 PM Taiwan time, also October 1. The Block's so-called "volcano mining" does not mean placing mining machines inside a volcano. Underground rock layers heat water sources, producing steam or high-temperature fluids, which geothermal power plants use to drive turbines to generate electricity. After the power is connected to ASIC miners, the equipment continuously performs hash calculations, competing with miners worldwide for the right to record new blocks and earn Bitcoin rewards. The volcano provides heat energy, and the miners complete the computations, "Volcanode"

#比特币ETF连续9日流入,ETH转流出 $ETH $BTC BTC spot ETFs have attracted funds for 9 consecutive trading days, totaling about $3.08 billion. The numbers look good, but I am more concerned that the speed of capital inflow is cooling down. 1️⃣ On September 21, the single-day inflow was nearly $1 billion, but by September 29 it dropped to about $66.19 million. Buying interest remains, but the willingness to chase prices has clearly weakened. 2️⃣ ETH spot ETFs ended a 7-day streak of inflows, with a single-day outflow of about $2.81 million. This scale is very small, so it’s too early to talk about a large-scale capital withdrawal. 3️⃣ BTC and ETH are diverging in the short term, indicating institutional funds are becoming more selective. In times of market hesitation, BTC remains the preferred allocation. My judgment is: continuous inflows indicate there is capital supporting the bottom, but the slowing pace also reminds us that the market is not strong enough yet to chase blindly. What to watch next is whether BTC funds can accelerate again and whether ETH outflows will continue to expand.

"The Compound Interest of Life Vol.27|Frida Kahlo: She Painted Her Wounds as Another Body"
On April 13, 1953, the Galería de Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City held the only solo exhibition of Frida Kahlo's life in Mexico. Doctors had ordered her to rest in bed, and her friends thought the star of the show would have to be absent. After the exhibition opened, an ambulance stopped outside. Kahlo was carried into the gallery on a stretcher and laid on a four-poster bed that had been set up in advance. She wore vibrant Mexican clothing, drank, sang, and told jokes from the bed, surrounded by paintings of spines, blood, plants, miscarriages, marriage, and her own face. This attendance carried a heavy reality. Her body had severely deteriorated, and her right leg was amputated below the knee due to gangrene a few months later. The bed in the gallery was both a stage and the boundary of her real life. At that time, Kahlo was forty-five years old, had held exhibitions in New York and Paris, and the French government had collected her works; yet in her own country, she was still often introduced as the wife of muralist Diego Rivera. She did not wait for her body to recover, nor did she wait for art history to assign her a central place. She brought the bed into the exhibition hall and personally attended under her own name. Seventy-three years later, she has long since moved beyond that sickbed. In 2025, "The Dream (Bed)" sold for $54.66 million, setting a public auction record for a female artist's work; in 2026, Tate Modern held a major exhibition discussing how she transformed from a painter into a global cultural and commercial icon. Her compound interest is full of contradictions: pain turned into works, works turned into recognition, recognition

On-chain financing costs fluctuate, institutional loan rate adjustments lag, interest margin may be squeezed. 3️⃣【US Stocks】Nasdaq closes higher, Dow down Dow down 0.86%, S&P 500 down 0.25%, Nasdaq up 0.24%. Tech stocks provided support, but nine of the eleven S&P sectors closed lower, gains did not spread to the broader market. 4️⃣【Macro】US PCE below expectations August PCE rose 3.4% YoY, below the expected 3.7%; core PCE rose 3.0% YoY. "The Past Has Been On-Chain" Vol.20|September 30, 2021: Rewards Were Overissued, but Compound Has No Pause Button
$ETH $USDT On September 30, 2021, at 9:38 AM, a transaction was recorded on Ethereum. The initiator neither deposited a large amount of funds into Compound nor took on a corresponding scale of borrowing, yet received about 91,000 COMP from the protocol. At that time, it was worth approximately $27 million, with a gas fee of only about $155. This was not an attacker secretly modifying the ledger. The smart contract checked the conditions and then, according to its own code, normally issued the tokens. A few hours earlier, Compound had just executed Governance Proposal No. 62. Compound is an on-chain lending protocol. Users can deposit assets like ETH and USDC to earn interest, or borrow funds by collateralizing assets. To attract depositors and borrowers, the protocol also issues COMP governance tokens as rewards. Previously, COMP rewards for each market were fixed, split evenly between suppliers and borrowers. Proposal No. 62 aimed to make this mechanism more flexible, allowing the community to set reward speeds separately for both sides, while also fixing several issues left by the old version. The proposal received 729,781 votes in favor and zero against, then was executed after a time lock. Unfortunately, the new Comptroller contract introduced a reward calculation bug. Addresses that interacted with markets like cTUSD, cMKR, cSUSHI, cYFI, cAAVE, and cSAI began accumulating COMP far beyond normal levels. There is a time zone difference regarding the incident date. Co
