About Polymarket20BValuation

FT reports Polymarket is discussing a new funding round of about $1B at a valuation above $20B, a sharp increase from last year. Prediction markets are heating up: rival Kalshi previously raised $1B at a $22B valuation, while Robinhood and Coinbase are also seen as potential beneficiaries. Are prediction markets becoming a new growth gateway for crypto and traditional trading platforms, or will gambling concerns, insider trading and regulatory disputes limit the sector?

#Polymarket20BValuation Prediction Markets Are Becoming One of Crypto's Fastest-Growing Businesses Prediction markets have quietly evolved from a niche crypto experiment into one of the industry's most closely watched sectors. According to the Financial Times, Polymarket is reportedly discussing a new funding round of around $1 billion at a valuation exceeding $20 billion—a remarkable jump from just a year ago. The timing isn't coincidental. Rival Kalshi has already achieved a similar valuation, while companies like Robinhood and Coinbase are increasingly viewed as potential beneficiaries of growing interest in event-based trading. What's changing is the perception of prediction markets themselves. They're no longer being viewed solely as platforms for political or sports betting. Instead, they're emerging as alternative information markets where prices reflect collective expectations around elections, economic data, company earnings and even crypto events. Supporters argue these markets aggregate information more efficiently than traditional polls or forecasts. Critics point to familiar concerns around regulation, insider trading and whether certain contracts resemble gambling more than financial products. The outcome of that debate could determine whether prediction markets become a permanent pillar of financial infrastructure—or remain a niche product operating on the regulatory edge. One thing is becoming increasingly clear. Markets aren't just pricing assets anymore. They're pricing probabilities. Do you think prediction markets will become a mainstream financial product, or will regulation ultimately slow their growth? Share your thoughts below 👇

#Polymarket20BValuation Polymarket is reportedly discussing a funding round of about $1 billion at a valuation exceeding $20 billion. The proposed figure reflects how prediction markets have evolved from a niche crypto experiment into a serious trading and information business. Prediction markets are valuable because they convert opinions about elections, economics, and news events into continuously updated prices. However, rapid growth also brings regulatory questions involving gambling laws, insider information, market manipulation, and contract resolution. Polymarket’s long-term value will depend less on headline trading volume and more on whether it can build trustworthy markets across multiple legal jurisdictions.

i give it another year before every app - Kalshi, Polymarket, Robinhood - looks identical: - prediction markets - spot - perps - social trading - neobank makes product sense, but man, very uninspiring

So while I wanted to reaccess @Polymarket on my Chrome Tab And it gave the narrative that "Polymarket is a sport betting company" I felt so disgusted and irritated ngl, cause I genuinely see Polymarket as any other Perp trading platform on Decentralized Finance. This narrative is what make traders have a different concept about prediction market platforms. We got more awareness & sensitization to create though.

Options on prediction markets unlock four things at once: leverage with no liquidation engine, hedges for positions too big to exit, yield on positions you're holding anyway, and a vol surface for event probabilities that doesn't exist yet. Kushal Mungee (@kushal_mungee), ex-Virtu quant and CEO of @Convallax, is building all four on top of Polymarket, with Kalshi next. On @dimetvhq: why lending and perps both break on gap risk, pricing options on an asset trapped between zero and one, insider flow and expiry games, and why it all has to run on RFQ. A valuation above $20B would frame Polymarket less as a crypto application and more as a contender in the wider trading and information market. FT reports it is discussing a roughly $1B round, while rival Kalshi previously raised $1B at a $22B valuation. The key test is not whether prediction markets can attract attention, but whether they can convert episodic interest into durable, compliant liquidity. Robinhood and Coinbase may benefit if the category broadens, yet gambling concerns, insider trading risks and regulatory disputes could keep growth expensive and fragmented. My read: distribution may prove more defensible than any single market format. Not advice, just analysis. #Polymarket20BValuation #OKXOrbit

Prediction markets like Polymarket and Augur are reshaping how we gauge sentiment and forecast events. The ability to trade on outcomes taps into collective intelligence & can reveal market inefficiencies. Who's ready to bet on the future? $PMKT #PredictionMarkets

Not to beat a dead horse, but for informative purposes.. Polymarket just lanched their crypto up/down markets settled in twap system to counteract close manipulation. As you have probably guessed..not only does it not work, but its actually worse than before. They are the only company in history that is 100 for 100, 100 upgrades that failed at launch of upgrade. Best to avoid at all costs
