SpaceX short covering is less about “bullish news” and more about positioning pressure.
When a heavily shorted stock starts holding after unlock-related selling, shorts can become forced buyers. That can create sharp moves even before fundamentals improve.
The key thing here is that lockup supply was supposed to pressure the stock, but if sellers get absorbed, the trade flips.
That does not remove volatility. More shares becoming tradable can still create supply shocks.
But when a crowded short trade stops working, the bounce can become fast because the exit door is narrow.
